Coming up for air

I spent much of the last 20 years in a pretty deep depression. I might get into it in later posts, but for now I’ll skip the full details. It took some doing, but I finally managed to work out a chemical cocktail that allowed me to pull myself up to breathe. Once up, though, I started really noticing things I should have been noticing before.

I’m very concerned about the world I see around me, and I want to try to do something about it.

Unfortunately, I’m not exactly versed in the subjects that have started to interest me.

This blog (hello 2008! I’ve arrived!) is an attempt to gather my thoughts and potentially share them as I learn and try new things.

I chose the name “Questions for a Just World” because I know I don’t have answers. I have questions and ideas, but this kind of stuff really needs collaboration.

I don’t know if anyone will ever read this, but please comment if you have anything to say.

Expect to see posts on (but not limited to):

  • capitalism

  • communism

  • books I’ve read

  • books I want to read

  • books I’m reading and am part way through but I just have to write about something I just read

  • youtube videos

So, fair warning: I’ve been “liberal” my entire adult life, but I’m coming to understand that doesn’t mean what I thought it meant. I’m learning much more about the entire political compass and where I land on it. There will be thoughts on leftism, criticism of capitalism, drafts of new constitutions, and whatever else might come to mind. This is more for me than you, but you’re welcome to come along.

I have no idea what I’m doing. Enjoy the trainwreck!
